Vester Edgar Obituary
East Alton - Vester "Jay" Neal Edgar, 86, passed away with his family by his side, May 7, 2025, at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon.
Born May 3, 1939, in Wood River, he was the son of Horrace and Geraldine (Neal) Edgar.
Jay had been employed at General Motors for 30 years including the plants in St. Louis, MO, and Bowling Green, KY, before retiring in 1988. He enjoyed working on and restoring vintage cars as well as fishing and camping. He loved his dog, "Spike".
Surviving are a son, Jeff Edgar, Sr. of Wood River; daughter, Joyce Brueggeman of Easy Alton; four grandchildren, Courtney Brueggeman of Wood River, Jordan Brueggeman of O'Fallon, IL, Jeff Edgar, Jr. of Brighton, Joshua Edgar of Brighton; great grandchildren, Jeffrey Edgar, III, Jensen Edgar, Jade Edgar, Joshua Edgar, Jr., Jarrett Edgar; and a sister, Vesta Witt of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jay Edgar; son-in-law, Clay Brueggeman; and two brothers, Gerald and Frank Edgar.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m., Monday, May 12, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Chaplain Tony Boos will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Foundation or HavaHeart Rescue.

My condolences to the whole family. It was a true blessing to spend time sharing stories and music with Jay. He had a smile that lit up a room with a gentle spirit. May he rest in peace.
