DYER CHAPEL - Vhonda Gaye McCloud born on August 27, 1959, in Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday October 6, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Vhonda was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother whose legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Vhonda was a devoted cook in the Putnam County School System, where she had the pleasure of nurturing and nourishing students she encountered everyday. Her dedication and passion for her work extended beyond the kitchen, making a significant impact on the lives of many children and their families.
In her personal life, Vhonda enjoyed an array of hobbies, particularly sewing and knitting, through which she expressed her creativity and affection for those around her. Whether it was crafting a handmade gift or creating something special for family gatherings, Vhonda's thoughtful creations brought warmth and joy to countless occasions.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jenny Bogle (Jeffery "Bud"), and her devoted son, Harlan McCloud (Amanda), and adopted daughter, Melissa Mathis. Vhonda's family also includes her caring sisters, Patricia Roberson, Melissa Bennett and Shelly Jared; her brothers, Michael Melton and Jerry Melton, Her life’s joy was reflected in the laughter and love of her grandchildren, Hailey Ray Bogle (fiancé, Noah Whitlock), Brooklyn Paige Bogle, Brayden Levi Bogle, and Holden Ray McCloud, as well as in the lives of a multitude of nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her presence.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James Brown Melton and Eula Inez Savage Melton; her husband, Jimmy McCloud; and her twin sister, Faye Craighead. Each of these individuals held a special place in Vhonda's heart, enriching her life in immeasurable ways.
A memorial service to honor Vhonda will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 3 pm at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Pastor Darrell Gill will officiate.
Vhonda Gaye McCloud leaves behind a profound legacy of love, community service, and a passion for family. Her spirit and warmth will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her, and she will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and generous heart.
