Vicki Lynne Helkey, 79, of Universal City, went to be with the Lord peacefully on November 23, 2025 at Legacy at Forest Ridge.
She was born on March 24, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas to Mervin and Evelyn Myers. Vicki was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and recent great-grandmother.
She was a devoted member of Universal City United Methodist Church where she sung in the choir, attended various bible study classes for over 40 years. She was also a member of the evangelism committee for a period of time.
Vicki was a florist for some time cultivating her love for flowers, after that she had a long career with Southwest Airlines and loved traveling the skies via Southwest Airlines with her family. She also enjoyed painting, especially watercolors. Many times, she would paint with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Scott Durham (Darlene), Chris Helkey, Brett Durham (Lourdes) and Heather Lewis. Vicki had 8 grandchildren: Cory, Jared (Tori), Nathan, Colin, Christian, Heaven, Hayden, Logan, and 2 great granddaughters Alina and Rayla, her nephew Chris Bierberly, niece Kara Maddox (Mike), and her brother-in-law Ken Bierberly.
Vicki was preceded in death by her husband John Helkey, her parents Mervin and Evelyn Myers, and her sister Sherril Bierberly.
Vicki loved the Lord and is now at peace walking alongside him.
A celebration of life service will be held December 15, 2025, at 10am at Universal City United Methodist Church with a small reception to follow in the fellowship hall and interment at 2:30pm at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, and/or Universal City United Methodist Church.
