Dr. Vicki Jane Lauderdale

Dr. Vicki Jane Bunting Lauderdale, 89, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, with her loved ones at her side. She was born to the late William Emerson Bunting and the late Nell McMillen Bunting on July 23, 1936, in Geneva, Illinois.
Vicki was a public-school teacher in Alabama in the elementary, middle and high school grades. After she earned her Doctorate degree in Education from Auburn University, she became a Professor of Education at Troy University.
Surviving Vicki are her daughter Jennifer Beasley and husband Mark of Somerset, Kentucky and son Burt Lauderdale and wife Jenny of London, Kentucky; grandchildren, Julia Beasley, Jackson Beasley and Katherine Beasley, all of Somerset, Kentucky, Jasper Lauderdale of Brooklyn, New York and Colin Lauderdale of Louisville, Kentucky; and her sister Bette Heger of Rochester, New York.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Beverly Harbaum.
Vicki found happiness in reading, antiquing and being outdoors. She was a world traveler, visiting places as far flung as the Yangtze River in China, St. Andrews, Scotland, and Clarenville, Newfoundland, but found the greatest joy spending time with family at Half-Mile Lake in Michigan.
Vicki was an amazing and generous daughter, mother, grandmother, friend, teacher and mentor. She leaves a rich legacy of what it is to be kind, and she will be missed.
A private Celebration of Life memorial service and burial will take place at a later date in Walkerville, Michigan.
