Vickie Sue "Ward" Barnhouse

Vickie Sue (Ward) Barnhouse was born on March 21, 1961 in Fredericktown, MO the daughter of the late Ervin Eugene and Norma Jean (Barker) Ward.

Vickie grew up in Marquand as 1 of 13 children. She had many interests as a child but was also quite busy helping her mother with household duties and raising the other children. She graduated from Marquand-Zion High School where she worked as Secretary to the High School Principal and Superintendent while finishing her Senior Year. Shortly after graduation, Vickie left her position at Marquand-Zion and studied as an intern under salon owner, Jan Bollinger, to learn the art of Cosmetology.

While working at Jan's Beauty Shop she met and married Ted Barnhouse II. They would share 38 years of marriage together and enjoy the birth of two sons Theodore Lee Barnhouse III and Zachary Gene Barnhouse. Early in life she developed a love for Cardinal baseball. She collaborated with her brother, Denny Ward, to host tours to the St. Louis Cardinal games. Vickie came to know Jesus as her savior and was discipled by two ladies from the Marquand community, Mrs. Audrey and Mrs. Margerette Huff. They would help her in her walk with the Lord. She became a dedicated follower of Jesus and an amazing prayer warrior. Vickie would be the first to say she was not perfect but strived to be the best witness for her Lord as possible. Vickie would earn the title of Baby Whisperer when she started caring for children in her home. Over the years, she became a big part of each family and was commonly recognized as a surrogate Grandmother. In her care, these children learned many of the important thing's children need to learn in their formative years, such as their ABCs, how to play well with others, potty training, and how to love. In her later years she enjoyed traveling with her husband and boys all around the mid-west while Ted worked. She became a friend to Ted's customers who became Facebook friends.

Vickie had lots of hobbies, including sewing, quilting, and gardening, all of which she was proficient in. Over the years, she pieced and gifted many beautiful quilts to family and friends. She loved planting flowers around her home and yard, and enjoyed raising vegetables in her garden and preserving them for the winter. Vickie loved to cook and bake. You never visited her home without the invitation to have something delicious to eat. She loved family gatherings, and was well known for her chicken and dumplings, and homemade rolls.

Vickie is survived by her husband, Ted Barnhouse II, sons Ted Barnhouse III, Zachary Barnhouse and wife Danielle, special daughters Megan Pickard, Kim Minx, nine brothers; Denny Ward, Roger (Kim) Ward, Jimmy (Anita) Ward, Larry (Connie) Ward, Jerry (Pam) Ward, Kevin Ward, Tommy (Cindy) Ward, Michael Ward, and Steven Ward, along with three sisters; Debbie (Jim) Miller, Angela (Todd) Firebaugh, and LaDonna (Javier) Corcino, and Brother-In-Laws Rod (Darlinda) Barnhouse, Joe (Kelly) Barnhouse, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Vickie was proceeded in death by infant son Jonathan Barnhouse, her parents, Ervin and Norma Jean Ward, Mother-in-law, Sally Barnhouse, and Brother-in-law Steve Barnhouse.
