Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dahl Funeral Chapel - Billings on Oct. 20, 2025.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Vickie Lynn Carroll, passed away on October 3rd, 2025, at the age of 70. Vickie was born on February 9th, 1955, to Tom and Earlene Carroll, in Pomona California. In 1966 her family moved to Bozeman Montana.
Vickie enjoyed many hobbies in her lifetime. She was a talented pitcher on her softball team, still talking about the fun trips made with her sister Lori. Sewing a lot of her own clothing as a young woman, this tradition carried on most of her life. She even made pajamas for her grandkids for them to wear on Christmas Eve. Vickie had one of the best yards on the block with a large variety of flowers each year. Her garden was just as impressive, just a little smaller than in her younger years. From her spot in the shade, she had a few good laughs this summer as her kids and grandkids tried to decipher weeds vs. plants. Vickie started skiing downhill as a child, this was one activity she expressed being saddened her body would no longer allow her to do. When her kids were still young many weekends were spent camping. Cooking big meals and roasting smores once it got dark. On Vickie's last camping trip this summer long after most of the camp had gone to sleep, talking and laughter carried into the early morning with two good friends. Back and forth from each end of the camper like little kids. For Vickie, going to hear live music surpassed all other interests. A multi-day festival like Rockin' the Rivers or a few hour show in downtown Billings at Alive at 5, music had her heart. Vickie accompanied most of her grandkids to their first concerts.
Vickie spent the majority of her life caring and giving to others. She was a CNA for over 30 years, many of them at Aspen Meadows. At Aspen, she was loved by many residents and staff as well. Many times, while out recreating a former colleague or family member of residents past would come talk with her giving her praise in the care she had given.
Vickie is survived by her three children, David (Teri), Danni (Mike), and Cheryl (Adrian). Grandkids Adrian (Trisha), Collin (Molly), Michael, Sydney and Olivia. Great-grandkids Gauge and Frankie. Sisters Lori (Deb), Jenny and Amy (Angel), and her Aunt Cindy and cousin Brad.
I wish we all could have witnessed the welcome Vickie received from all her loved ones who have passed before her. Reunited first with her parents, her mom with arms wide open for a long-awaited hug with the smell of her dad BBQing chicken. Relaxing in the lawn chairs with her cousin Kelly telling stories about their kids and their accomplishments. An update from Uncle Tom on all the day's games highlights. The next stop, a saved seat next to Ted. You know Robin was mixing a strong 7 n 7 as she walked into view. Visiting at a table nearby Tina and Shannon arm in arm. Her eyes searching for Grandma Tiny who had snuck away for a quick puff. Hearing Sterling yell out "Grandma ready for a shot?!". As she turns to answer many more come into view Bradley, Uncle Sam, John Feeley, too many to list. Stopping to think if only I could find a way to let the others left behind know, don't stay in your grief, your time left together may be long or quite brief. Take comfort in knowing we will all be right here when it's our time to welcome you.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on November 2nd at 1pm, at the Golden Meadows Community Center at 3200 King Ave W, Billings Mt 59102. If you plan on attending, please wear purple if you are able, as it was her favorite color. Condolences and flowers may be sent in care of
