Ms. Vickie Louise Nelson, the daughter of the late Abraham Scott and the late Mammie Louise Scott was born December 12, 1968 in Florence, South Carolina. She transitioned Sunday, June 30, 2024 at MUSC Health Florence.
Vickie attended Florence County Public School System, attended South Florence High School and later joined the Job Corps. She relocated back to Florence, South Carolina and years later, Vickie was employed at Faith Nursing Home as Head Cook.
Vickie joined Life Tabernacle with her three sons, under the leadership of Reverend Frederick Mullins. You could often hear Vickie singing “Going Up Yonder” or “God Is Good” during church services.
Vickie a loving mother and grandmother, loved to cook, but most of all loved the Lord. She adored spending family time with Sam and her sons. Dancing, attending church and cooking were her favorite pastimes.
Vickie was preceded in death by her father and mother; and her ex-husband, James Nelson.
Vickie leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving fiancé, Sam Barr of the home; three sons, Roreckus Scott, Juarez Scott and Juantigo (a special daughter-in-law, Tonja) Scott; five grandchildren, Damarian Scott, Kamora Scott, Karli Rose Scott, Zeelah Norton and Theo Larue; one step daughter, Samina Ali Barr; one brother-in-law, Victor Lee Barr; two sisters, Tomika Scott and Yvonne Henderson; four brothers, Leon Curtis, Leroy (Rebecca) Bruce, Jeffery Scott and Todd Scott; a special aunt, Rachel Depugh; two special uncles, Charles (Lois) Alford and Tracey Ray; a special friend, Vanessa Starr; and a host of other relatives and friends.
