Victor Colon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Casey & Rios Funeral Home on Nov. 26, 2025.

Victor Manuel Colon, lovingly known as Pipo, Ito, and Grandpa, was born on December 24, 1942, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, to the late Isidoro Colon and Angela Serrano. On November 25, 2025, he peacefully gained his wings, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, resilience, faith, and family devotion.
Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Victor built a life defined by hard work, perseverance, and deep devotion to his family. After moving to Chicago, he dedicated many years of service to the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and steady presence. He retired with pride after a long and meaningful career.
Victor married twice. With his first wife, Sonia Cruz, he welcomed two children: Victor Colon Jr. and Evelyn Roman (Colon). Later, he married Marilyn Colon, with whom he shared three children: Sandy Colon, Angela Colon-Allison, and Erik Colon. He also shared a relationship with Maria Chacon, and together they had a daughter, Nina Vargas. His six children were the heart of his world, and he cherished each of them deeply.
Beyond his family and work, Victor made a lasting mark on his community through his lifelong love of softball. He was one of the pioneers of the Monchile Concepcion Softball League in Humboldt Park, Chicago, serving as both a dedicated player and league president for well over a decade. His leadership and passion helped shape the league's identity, and he brought the first championship rings to the game and its players, creating traditions that continue today.
He had a big heart, brought laughter with his many jokes, and through his cooking you could witness the passion he poured into every dish he prepared and shared with others. Victor's warmth, humor, and generosity made every gathering brighter, and everyone who sat at his table felt welcomed and loved.
As proud as he was of the league and the community it created, the only thing Victor loved more than softball was his family. To know him and to share space with him was truly to be blessed.
He is survived by his beloved children: Victor Colon Jr., Evelyn Roman, Sandy Colon and Modesto "Fito" Sanchez, Nina Vargas and Everardo Vargas, Angela Colon-Allison and Michael A. Allison, and Erik Colon and Barbie Colon.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his grandchildren:
Joshua Colon, Joey Colon, Jazmin Colon, Xavier Colon, Isaac Colon, Sebastian Colon, Joseph M. Roman, Daniel M. Roman, Soly E. Roman, Alexander Roman, Jaida V. Rosado-Colon, D'Angelo A. Allison, Jovilyn A. Allison, Erik Manuel Colon Jr., Mayleen A. Colon, Emily M. Colon, Makayla K. Colon, Barbie I. Colon II, and Trinity M. Colon.
Victor was also blessed with a growing generation of great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy:
Santana M. Colon, Nijah Thomas, Joshua Colon Jr., Jakayla Colon, Nasir Colon, Navier Colon, Noah Colon, Anastasia Colon, Levi Colon, Colton Bass, Jaxon Bass, Solana Pura Arechicaga Colon, Joseph M. Roman III, Eli R. Roman, and Reese L. Roman.
Victor's memory will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, leadership, and dedication will never be forgotten. May he rest in God's everlasting embrace.
