When his men respond to "Captain Vic" he would smile like he was enjoying the respect he held. We honor the professional, his bravery and his friendship. We at L-126 and E-303 were a family of older and young men and woman who had pride in our work and enjoyed the relationships were shared. He made a group of firefighter better and lead by an example of fairness and integrity. He is missed.

I am truly saddened to hear this news about my friend Capt. Mokarry. I knew Vic when he covered as a Lieutenant in my firehouse in Brooklyn. I was later thrilled when he became the Captain of Ladder 126. I was his Driver for years in L-126, These were some of my happiest years on FDNY. My Condolances to the the entire Mokarry Family.

One of the finest gentlemen and knowledgeable officers to grace the office of Ladder 125 for over a year. Wish we could have kept him longer. A great pleasure to work along side him. May he have eternal rest; he was surely one of the best Captains in the job.

As a fireman in L 132, it was my pleasure to work with Vic. He was a good Officer and a class act.

I worked in L-105 (60's 70's) We ran in together a lot. My father was DAC William Whalen and loved to go to L-132 and E-280 to have pizza and that wonderful beverage, whatdo-you-call-it? RIP Victor. Steve Whalen

I always admired and looked up to Uncle Vic for being one on New York's Bravest and achieving Captains rank. I remember when he mentioned he was preparing for the test and it was a great accomplishment. I also remember visiting him at the firehouse and a ride in his Karmann Ghia sports coupe out to L.I. Now Uncle Tom, Dad and Uncle Vic are enjoying a few cold containers at Farrell's together and smiling down on all of us.

So sorry to see a gentleman and an officer pass away. Vic was a great fire officer when there was plenty of fire duty and he was an excellent but quiet leader-which wasn't an easy task when Jim Sage was your chauffeur. RIP Vic.

Vic was truly a great guy to work with and to work for in E280 & L132. An excellent fire officer and a good friend to all of us.

RIP Uncle Vic. I hope you and my dad are smoking big fat cigars together as you watch Uncle Ray scarf down a slice of piping hot pizza in two bites flat.
