Victoria Fulton Dzwons

After a short illness from cancer, Victoria F. Dzwons, 73, went to be with her Savior Jesus, October 5, 2024.
She began life as a surprise baby to her parents, George and Jane Dzwons, when they were in their mid-forties, arriving January 1, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family moved to Chipita Park, Colorado, where Victoria was raised.
Victoria graduated as co-salutatorian from Manitou Springs High School in 1969. She attended the University of Minnesota for one year, then graduated from Colorado State University, in 1975, with a B.S. Degree in environmental science.
Victoria became a follower of Jesus during the Jesus Movement of the seventies. Her love for Bible study deepened as she did post-graduate work at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs; Fuller Theological Seminary; New Orleans Loyola University; and New Geneva Theological Seminary, where she received a M.A. in religious education.
Victoria worked as a substitute teacher in Colorado Springs' schools for many years, and tackled many "handy woman" jobs like lawn service, caregiving, painting, and house cleaning. She volunteered for many years with Ecumenical Social Ministries, Marian House Soup Kitchen, and Silver Key. She also served as a librarian and local board member of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
Victoria had a special place in her heart for First Presbyterian Church. She sang in the Big Blue Choir for 45 years, and worked in various ministries as a Precepts and Sunday School teacher, deacon, volunteer with the banquet set-up/ kitchen department and Get Set Preschool, and with the church library. She deployed whenever possible as a missions team member to natural disaster areas. As a woman of prayer, she often set her alarm to pray for certain people at certain times.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 31, at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St., Colorado Springs. At her request her ashes have been scattered in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Victoria intentionally lived a simple, sacrificial life.
Instead of memorials, her friends ask that people honor her by loving others with kind deeds.
