Vincent Bonsignore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Yonkers on Mar. 26, 2026.
Vincent R. Bonsignore, a resident of City Island, the Bronx, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the age of 82. Vinny was predeceased by his father Santo Bonsignore and his mother Tessie Bonsignore (nee Bellofatto), his sister Victoria Bisesto and his nephew Christopher Kurz.

Vinny leaves behind his nephew Fredrick J. Kurz and partner Debra Gellis, his devoted brother-in-law Raymond J. DeFeis and his youngest sister Santa Bonsignore DeFeis, whom he relied on, especially in his later years for support and encouragement as she remained by his side. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Vinny was resilient at a young age in overcoming a serious car accident that left him with physical challenges from his injuries. Yet, his ability to withstand adversity moved Vinny beyond mere survival to living a fulfilling life. His friendly and helpful manner made him the perfect fit in Retail Businesses both in New York and Minnesota where he was able to utilize his training and experience in display & design.

Vinny was Shutterbug who loved to travel, capturing nature and wildlife for his memories. His fondness for animals was so dedicated that he volunteered his services at the Bronx Zoo for many years leading walking tours, where he enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of animals with the visitors. But perhaps his most endearing and unselfish quality was that of his service in the Big Brother Program while residing in Minnesota, where Vinny was a friend and mentor to boys who later developed into fine young men who continue to keep in touch with Vinny until today.

At Vincent's request, there will be no formal service. His interment will be in Our Lady Queen of Peace Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.

Memorial donations can be made in Vinny's memory to the Bronx Zoo through Wildlife Conservation Society at www.wcs.org or Calvary Hospital Bronx, NY at www.calvaryhospital.org.
