Vincent "Bud" Sanders, 82, of Concord, NC passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Bud was born December 28, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Henry Vernon Sanders and the late Ophelia McGruder Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his brother Vernon Sanders.
His family was originally from Augusta, Georgia where they briefly relocated when he was 3. When he was 12 years old, his family moved to Concord NC where he lived across the street from the future love of his life and woman he would one day marry.
Bud retired from Lucent Technologies after 43 years of service. Outside of work he found joy hunting with his buddies in Norwood, kayaking down the Nantahala river, and watching football in his chair. For many years, he also delighted the community by appearing as Santa Claus for McGill Baptist Church and Daycare.
To his grandchildren- and all their friends- he was lovingly known as “Grandad”. He was the brightest light in any room. Bud never met a stranger. He loved wholeheartedly, hugged tightly and never let anyone leave his presence without a kiss on the cheek and an “I love you”.
Bud is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Sandra Pearl Sanders of Concord, NC; His sister, Mary Lou Helmly; His children, Brandy Sanders, Vincent 'Buddy' Sanders and wife, Layla; His grandchildren, Destiny and Cameron Giordano, Skyler Sanders and partner, Samantha Pack, Tyler Bingham, Ian and Michelle Bingham, and Aubrey Bingham; and His great granddaughter (his "sweet pea") Everly Pearl Giordano.
In his final wishes, Bud asked for no visitations, no memorials or formal services. His only request was a 'party' to celebrate his life. The family will honor this wish and is planning a celebration to be held in the near future.
Donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC 28081 or McGill Baptist Church, 5300 Poplar Tent Rd, Concord, NC 28027
Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Sanders family.
