Vincent Connell Obituary
EAST GREENBUSH - Vincent "Vinnie" J. Connell, 43, of East Greenbush, passed away, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Vincent was born in Albany, N.Y., the son of James R. Connell and Deborah (Frank) Connell-Smith.
Vinnie was a graduate of Rensselaer Highschool. He worked as an assistant manager at Dollar Tree and recently as a cashier at Hannaford.
Vinnie's interests included going to concerts, listening to music, spending time with family, and watching movies.
Survivors include his parents, James R. Connell and Deborah Connell-Smith; his stepfather, Frank Smith; sister, Shana Lynn Connell; aunts and uncles, Joanne McCullough, Beverly Izzo, Mark Cataldo, Patrice (Richard) Sultan, Dennis (Denise) Connell, William (Trish), Michael (Trudy) Connell, and Ed Mountain; and several loving cousins.
Predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Agnes Cataldo, and James and Shirley Connell; Uncles, John, Frank Connell, Arthur Froehlich, Jack McCullough, Tony Izzo, and Joseph Cataldo; and aunt, Joyce Froehlich.
Friends and family are invited to his calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m., Friday evening, in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m.
Contributions in Vincent's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Vin, this is to you. All the things I couldn't say yesterday because I didn't want to weigh you down with "goodbye". You were the calmest of us. The most patient of us. The quietest of us. You were the steady, reliable presence at all the family gatherings, observing everything going on and the loudness and chaos with peace and genuine appreciation. I'll always remember you were game for our games and just happy to be there, with everyone. I remember every holiday growing up... me asking, "Are Vinnie and Shana coming?" "Are Vinnie and Shana gonna be there?" You were so good helping Nan and Billy when you were around them. You were good with Steve's mother, Rose, and she still asks about you from time to time. You probably missed your calling as a nurse or aide or something. There is so much value in the calm, patient, quiet presence and it's not often realized until it's gone. You fought your fight well and can rest now. You are missed already. Sorry for the ramblings. Love you.
