I happened upon Vince's obit in 2001 in the New York Times and cried my eyes out. I can't forget his name, it's a part of my personal 9/11 story. I'm from Tennessee but my family had an apartment on the UWS of Manhattan, and I have had music business dealings there for years, so I feel strongly connected to NYC. Does anyone know if there's a fund for the family or a scholarship set up for the kids?

As part of a collective effort to remember the men and women of 9/11 a local friend organized a community event to encourage us to take a name to honor each of those who lost their lives that day. Our family received Lt. Vincent's name and will be performing an act of service in our community to honor and remember him. I was truly touched reading about his love for his family and children. As part of our service, we will donate or volunteer a service to local organization that offers services to children, perhaps the Children's Museum or the homeless shelter for women and children. God bless your family as we remember these wonderful people and their families.

I was on a tour to NYC during the summer of 2001. Being a volunteer fireman from Pennsylvania, I happened on the firehouse of Ladder 8. "Vinny" was the only one there at the time. The ladder was out for repairs and Vinny showed us around the firehouse and explained that it was the firehouse used in the Ghostbusters movie. He introduced himself as Lt. Halloran and we have a family by that name in the town where I live. He said no relation. I asked him if they had any souvenirs for sale and he looked around and found a XXL Tee shirt with the Ghostbuster logo on it and FDNY Ladder 8 on the back. He gave it to me gratis. I didn't know until several years later that Lt. Halloran was killed at the Trade Center until I was looking at a list compiled on the internet of the firemen killed. I noticed he was the only one from his station. I treasure that shirt today and wear it often to fire service events. God Bless Vinnie and his wife and family!

I didn't know Lt. Halloran, but some 11 or so years ago I read his obituary in the New York Times. 9/11 had never been so personal for me as a young father with two little boys, as I wept for his family's loss. I started digging around looking for the Hallorans today, and saw my first picture of "Vinny". Quite an infectious smile; you can tell that guy was loved and loved life! I admire the fact that he coached kids' sports, as I'm the dugout coach for my 8-year-old's baseball team. God Bless the Hallorans...every time I think of 9/11, go to the City, or see a fire truck rumble down the street in Nashville, Tennessee where I live, I think of the sacrifice of SO many on 9/11/01 (and every day that a fireman or first responder suits up). Much Love and Gratitude, Cal Turner ([email protected])

To the family and friends of Lt. Vincent G. Halloran: I live in a little town in California - thousands of miles from NY and all that happened 9/11/01. After the tragedy my Mom purchased a bracelet with Lt. Halloran's name inscribed on it. My brother is a firefighter and she wanted to pay tribute to someone lost that day that had no hesitation about running into the towers.
Last year my daughter (10 years old at the time) was assigned a project about writing a report on a "Hero". While other kids in her class chose politicians, and sports stars, my daughter chose Lt. Halloran. Her teacher told her this was not going to be an easy report to write, but she stuck to her original idea. We were able to find a lot of information on line and via a reporter than has done stories on Lt. Halloran, his family, friends and his love for children.
My daughter received an A+ for her report and the portrait she drew of Lt. Halloran. I have to say that even though she was just 3 in 2001, it was important for her to read, see and understand what happened that day.
I just wanted you to know that Lt Halloran was a hero to someone he never knew, 3,000 miles away.
My condolence to the family, friends and co-workers...thank you for all that you do.

Dear Halloran family,
I'm making my 9-11 Memorial again with an addition this year. We found a wire creation of the twin towers, and then I have my FDNY firetruck with a big flag sticking out of it. Then I print out photos from the CNN site and Mr. Halloran is the first one I always print out. Then Mr. Tom Burnett. Then I point and click and print. Then I add red / white / blue roses and any other roses we have from the garden. Usually I do this @ work, but I am unemployed again this year as I was on 9-11-01. God Bless you Halloran family and all the families who so suffered their loss on 9-11-01. I still pray for the souls in purgatory who lost their lives on 9-11-01 and whenever I see a 9-11 in print or on the clock I pause for a moment.
