Vincent Peter Lamia, Jr., 91 years young, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2009, at 10:06 AM. Mr. Lamia, always the gentleman, who will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all those who had the good fortune to know him, was the husband of the late Beverly Lamia, son of the late Estelle Waechter Lamia and Vincent P. Lamia, brother of Francis D. Lamia, the late Jessie Rascoll and Joseph P. Lamia, father of Vincent P. Lamia, III (wife Karen), Sandra D. Guillot (husband Wally) and the late Janice D. Richard (husband Roy), also survived by six grandchildren: Vincent P. Lamia, IV, Shelley L. Foster (husband Ryan), Kellie R. Alleman (husband Byron), Todd Richard (wife Lisa), Tracie H. Brown (husband Scott) and Tricia Guillot, and five great grandchildren; Jacob Foster, Audrey Foster, Karinne Lamia, Taylor Richard and Lindsey Richard, and second-father and grandfather to David Nolting and Jasen Nolting, respectively. Mr. Lamia was a veteran of WWII, where he participated in three major battle campaigns in both African and European theatres of operation with the U.S. Army 31st “Dixie� Division, 156th Infantry Regiment (“Every man a king�) from March 1941 to October 1945, where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following the war, Mr. Lamia returned home and worked for the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board for 35 years. Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of S&WD and residents of the Westminister Towers Apartments in Kenner, LA. are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at the LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd.., New Orleans, LA. 70124, on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation to begin at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Lake Lawn Park.
