Viola Brooks Crawford, 96, passed to her heavenly home on January 5, 2025 after a period of declining health. She was born in the Barkers Creek Community to Charlie Brooks and Lula Cabe Brooks.
Viola, or as her family and friends knew her, Bo, loved to work in her garden and grew vegetables, which she would can, as well as a variety of beautiful flowers in and around her home. She was never happier than when she was cooking, whether it was for just a few people or entire meals at church, people could always count on it being delicious.
Viola enjoyed hosting her many nieces in her home for “Nieces Night” where they would talk and laugh. She loved nothing better than the company of her family and friends and would often gift them with her wonderful cakes or pies.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband Miles Crawford, their son Michael Crawford, granddaughter Heather Crawford, brother Issac Brooks, Claude Brooks, John Brooks, Charlie C Brooks and sisters Beatrice Brooks, Jessie Brooks Gibson, Hazel Brooks Middleton and Irmagard Brooks Smith.
She is survived by grandsons Dr. Jason Crawford of Charlotte, David Crawford of Kings Mountain, great grandchildren Ethan Crawford, Avery Crawford, Morgan Crawford and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday January 9, 2025 at East Sylva Baptist Church with visitation starting at 11:00am. The Reverend Charles Dean and Dr. Scott Courtney will officiate. A private burial will follow at a later time.
