Viola Turner Davis, 80, of Weaverville, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the Laurels of Greentree Ridge. She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Mary Winslow Turner. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Rufus W. Turner Jr. Mrs. Davis loved animals and provided a home to many animals throughout the years. She never knew an enemy and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, James E. Davis of the home, daughters, Shelia McGuinn of Mill Springs, step-daughter, Cheryl Riggs of New Bern, sons, S.E. Hooper III of Norfolk, VA, William S. 'Bill' Hooper, Tony W. Hooper both of Asheville, step-son, Jim Davis of New Bern, sisters, Lois Baccus of Hertford and Madiline Joynes of Pageleand, SC, brothers, Preston, Aubrey and Rufus Turner all of the Elizabeth City area, grandchildren, Scott Hooper, Tim McGuinn, Angelena Hooper Woon, Heather Hooper Pinkerton, Ryan Hooper and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn with the Rev. Tony Hooper officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CarePartners Foundation, PO Box 25338, Asheville NC 28813 in appreciation for the great care given during Viola's illness.
