On March 25, 2026, God called Viola Gibson (Hicks) home.

Viola was born on December 11, 1945 to the late Margaret Chase and the late George Washington Hicks. She was a lifelong resident of Bryantown, Maryland, and was educated in the Charles County school system.

Viola was a self-employed cook and the very proud owner of Vi's n Mike's Restaurant located on Rt. 925 in Waldorf, Maryland. She also cooked at various restaurants in the area, such as Proctor's Inn, Ford's Wonder Bar, Blue Haven, and plenty more.

In her spare time, Viola enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved family outings, eating crabs, playing cards, bingo, and playing Keno with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Viola spent her final months at her daughter's house and was well taken care of by her granddaughters, Trina and Lisha, as well as Hospice. Her last moments were spent with her children, her brother, grandkids, and great grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Chase and George Washington Hicks; siblings, Mary Christine Yates, James Percell Hicks, George Hicks, James Alan Hicks; and daughter-in-law, Susan Hicks.

Viola is survived by her children, Jerome Francis Hicks, James Francis Brown and his wife, Melissa Brown, Michael Donnell Brown, Shirley Ann Jacks and her husband, Tyrone Jacks, and David Tyrone Brown; her brother, David Hicks and Ruby Campbell. She is also survived by 16 grandkids, 46 great grandkids, 10 great great grandkids, and a lot of nieces and nephews.

A Viewing for Viola will be held at Raymond Funeral Service on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 10am until her Funeral Service at 12pm.
