Viola Harris Smith, 101, entered into her heavenly home, on August 18, 2022. She was born in South Boston, VA to the late Mary Annie Frances Vick Harris and the late Mose D. Harris. She was also predeceased in death by her husband, Coy Marvin Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She worked as a spinner for Dan River Mills Inc. for many years before her retirement.
Viola, is survived by her daughters; Helen Smith Scarboro of Colfax, NC; Linda Simpson (Donald) of Danville, VA; a son Curtis McCoy Smith (Judith) of Danville, VA; a brother Marvin Harris of Danville, VA; two sisters Frances Harris Reynolds and Marie Harris Goble both of Danville, VA; 15 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Viola was predeceased in death by two sons, Mark Stephen Smith and Marvin Franklin Smith; and a son in law, Ben Scarboro.
A funeral will be held on Saturday August 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., at Norris Funeral Services Inc., Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Reverend Richard J. Markham officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2:00pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
