Viola Clara Van Til, age 89, passed away October 7th, 2025. Viola was born in Tell City, Indiana on August 20th, 1936, to the late Alton and Hazel Lechner.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles Kessinger; and her second husband, Duke Van Til.
She is survived by daughters, Claudette Malloy and Susan Cobb; as well as her son David Kessinger (Kat).
Viola retired from Grand Rapids Ophthalmology in Greenville, Michigan, in 2014. She was a member of Business Professional Women, Red Hatters, the Hat Rack, as well as many other organizations; all in Greenville, Michigan.
In her free time she enjoyed volunteering for the city of Kettering, Ohio and doing word search puzzles. Viola has eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton or Epiphany Lutheran Church Pantry in Centerville, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Friday, October 17, 2025 at David's Cemetery Chapel (4600 Mad River Road Kettering), where funeral services will begin at 1:00pm. Viola will be laid to rest following the funeral.
