CENTERTOWN – Violet Belvarine Abney, 85, of Centertown passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on August 18th, 2025. She was born in No Creek on November 8th, 1939 to the late Lyman Edward and Jessie Eleanor Robinson Renfrow.
Belvarine was a member of Centertown Baptist Church. She retired from B.R. Associates as a manager for Jerry’s Restaurants. After retirement, she enjoyed quilting, listening to gospel music, attending church and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Abney; daughter, Janet Miles; grandson, Josh Johnston; great-grandson, Dalton Brown; brother, Albert “Danny” Chancellor; and sisters, Lynell Funk and Elgia Fraim.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeff (Kim) Abney, Gene (Lula) Abney, Holly (Jr.) Rearden, and Sally (Rob) Boek; grandchildren, Brad (Angie) Funk, Kristina (Bryan) Bechtel, Kevin (Mary) Johnston, Blake Johnston, Brent (Amy) Abney, Cody (Tony) Brown, Cage Abney, Dillion Abney, and Michael Rearden; several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and last but not least, her faithful furbaby, Toby.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Ohio County as well as two special caregivers, Betsy Maze and Dianna Henderson.
Services will be held Thursday August 21st, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Fleener officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Herman Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartford.
