Violet Bolt

Violet Marie Bolt, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at her residence.

Violet was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Roy Allyn and Geraldine Ethel (Irwin) Hemenway. After her father was discharged from military service, the family settled in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, where she was raised alongside her siblings: Dorothy, Earl, Philip, Vickie, Tom, and Allyn.

After graduating from high school, Violet returned to Virginia and took classes at a local college. In her early twenties, she met Garry Shane Bolt in Pennsylvania through mutual friends. The two were married on September 10, 1977, in Charleston, Pennsylvania, and soon after made their home in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where they began raising their family. Together they welcomed three children: Carl, Wendy, and Glen.

In 1989, Violet and her family became members of New Arbor Bible Church (formerly Calvary Bible Church), where she remained a devoted member for 36 years. She served as Deaconess Coordinator and was involved in several aspects of church life over the years. Violet deeply valued the fellowship and friendships she built within her church community.

Violet enjoyed crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family. She especially cherished her role as grandmother to Nathaniel, Jon, Skylar, and Lily, who brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Allyn Hemenway, and her brother, Carl Hemenway.

Violet will be deeply missed by her husband of 48 years, Garry S. Bolt; her children, Carl Bolt, Wendy (Ammon) Nofchissey, and Glen Bolt; her four grandchildren, Nathaniel Bolt, Jon Wilken, Skylar Bolt, and Lily Wilken; her mother, Geraldine Hemenway; her siblings, Dorothy (Noel) Carter, Earl Hemenway, Philip (Elaine) Hemenway, Vickie (Gordon) Jackson, Tom (Stacy) Hemenway, and Allyn (Debbie) Hemenway; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
