Violet McConnell

My family and I first met Violet and Lloyd when we visited the church in Anchorage. After the service they warmly greeted us and invited us to their home that day for dinner. She was a remarkable and godly woman. Thankful she is now with her Savior.

She was a person that impacted many young lives, including mine. She was as great an example of Christ´s love as I had as a child. What a blessing she was. Condolences to family and friends, she was a bright light to many of us.

I always called her "Aunt Vi" even though she was my mom's cousin's (Lloyd's) wife. She loved me like a niece. I was about 9 years old when I met her on their little farm in Canyon City Colorado. When I was 15 my Grandmother, Dorothy Gaines, brought me and Billy Chamness to visit on the farm for an extended time. Lloyd Jr. shared his horse, "Goldie" with me, and Denny became more than a "cousin". They became lifetime "friends"!

My husband, Marvin, joined me in my love of the McConnells. We visited Aunt Vi twice in Anchorage, and Lloyd Jr. in Soldotna. I will always remember watching Aunt Vi pray in her bed. She took as long as needed to pray for all her kids, grandkids, and even my family.

Aunt Vi and I made one trip alone. We flew to LA to visit my Grandmother's niece, Aunt Jesse's daughter. Vi's primary concern was for her soul. They had been in touch via the Internet. She had cancer.

I have told many people about Aunt Vi's creative ministry to the wives of the pilots of Japanese Airlines. That was her passion...to share the gospel. Her example was a total blessing to me and taught me much about prayer and evangelism. She also taught me about contentment.

I am so thankful for the McConnell's love of me and my family. Love always to you too: Lloyd Jr, Denny and Terry. I also miss Rick. Please plan to visit us in Bellingham.

So loved Violet McConnell! She was such a blessing to me and I am sure so many So grateful to God that He placed her in our pathand we were able to know her for the period of time that we did. Thankful. Wonderful God-fearing woman. She has heard the words from her Savior, "Well done, My good and faithful servant."

I am disappointed to be out of state having to miss this memorial to a wonderful woman. She and her husband let me stay in their home for several months when I was in high school. I have lovely memories of her during this time but just the fact that they opened their home to me blessed me beyond measure. Love and prayers, McConnell family.

My sweet friend Violet. Always thankful and positive about life. She loved the LORD and others. Miss her, but looking forward to that glad day when all of God´s children will be together forever.

I love you, Grandma. I know you are in loving hands, and your imprint continues to guide me every day.
