Violet Eleanor Reason

 

     Violet Reason, born only daughter of Chris and Edith Bendlin on January 28, 1925.  She was raised on a farm in Dickens, Iowa and went to country school there.  She graduated in 1941, at the age of 16 as valedictorian of her class.

     On February 18, 1945, she married Dean Reason in Spencer, Iowa.  She was a homemaker until Dean’s death in 1978.  She then worked various jobs at Nieman Fabrics, Fabric Warehouse, Dr. George Fieselman’s office as receptionist, Clay County ticket office and Fashionette clothing store.

     Vi enjoyed sewing, card club, morning coffee with friends and was an avid bowler.  She was a member of First Congregational Church serving as a deaconess, member of Mayflower Guild, wedding coordinator and sang in the choir for 36 years.

     Vi passed away on July 20, 2023, at St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 98.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dean, daughter, Linda Zinn and son-in-law, Bob Zinn.

     Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Barb (Ron) Muetzel of Spencer, IA and Bev (Mike) Hummel of Dickens, IA; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

In lieu of flowers, Memorials are to be designated to First Congregational Church in Spencer.
