Virgie Pearl Parsons Gaston passed away on October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters, Sheri Gaston-Mihacsi and Shelli Gaston, along with her grandson Dalton Gaston and his partner, Lesley Cardenas.
Virgie was born on December 21, 1941, in Lanton, Missouri, to Mary Pearl Reddin Parsons and Clifford George Parsons. She was the second of six children, with sisters Mary Ann, Arlene, Carol, and Kathy, and brother William "Bub".
When she was just five years old, Virgie Pearl Parsons moved to Newport, Oregon. It was there, while in high school, that she met the love of her life, Dan Gaston. After spending several years traveling back and forth between Corvallis and Klamath Falls for Dan's college studies, Virgie and Dan were married on March 21, 1960. Afterwards, they headed to Butte, Montana, for Dan's hospital internship. Upon returning to Oregon, they eventually settled in the lovely town of Hood River, where they raised their two beautiful daughters - Sheri, born in 1963, and Shelli, born in 1966.
Throughout her 83 years, Virgie was known for her friendly, talkative nature and her love of meeting new people. She had an incredible memory and a lively curiosity about the world, always keeping up with current events and culture. Virgie took great pride in her industrious nature, working a variety of jobs over the years - from the telephone company in Hood River to a local cannery and distillery - before going on to own her own businesses, including a cleaning service and a clothing store in downtown Hood River. She was especially proud of her sharp intellect and excellent spelling, and of course, her delicious "divinity" walnut candy - a holiday treat beloved by her family and friends.
Not a day went by that Virgie didn't talk about how much her family meant to her. She is preceded by her husband of 58 years, Dan Gaston, her parents, her son-in-law Rick Thane Mihacsi, and many of her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Sheri and Shelli, her grandchildren Marilyn, Travis, Dalton, and Angela, her great-grandchildren Tristan, Isabella, and Isaac, and countless dear friends.
Please join us celebrating her life on Monday November 10th, 2025 at 1:00 P.M at Andersons Tribute Center (1401 Belmont Ave, Hood River, OR 97031).
