Virgil Wayne Riddlesperger, age 81, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Verona, Missouri, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Ravenwood Senior Living, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born March 16, 1944, in Harrison, Arkansas, the son of Ray and Agnes Mae (Terherst) Riddlesperger.

Virgil was a truck driver and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

On September 21, 1963, he married Helen Jean Boyett, in Arcata, California. She preceded him in death on April 17, 1998.

Virgil is survived by his son, Doug Riddlesperger and his wife, Tandra, of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Melanie Hicks and her husband, Ron, of White Cloud, Michigan and Misty Willet and her husband, Chris, of Goodman, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Haley and Brooke Riddlesperger, Tyler and Wil McVay, Clint Hicks, Ashley Marcum, Bret, Jeremy and Brad Willet, Kyl Rosewicz, and Strider Scraper; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vancil (Linda) Riddlesperger and Dencil Riddlesperger, all of Berryville, Arkansas; two sisters, Melissa Rosel Boatright of Green Forest Arkansas and Hazel (Bob) Scroggins of Roseburg, Oregon; sister-in-law, Debbie Burton of Sparks, Nevada; brother-in-law, Lawrence Harvey of Fortuna, California, and several nieces and nephews.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Ray, and Agnes; his wife, Helen; one brother, Ronald Riddlesperger and one sister, Rachel Curtis.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Ravenwood Assisted Living for the wonderful care that they provided for Virgil.

A burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora.
