Funeral services for Albert Virgil Williamson are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, January 12, 2026, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Lowe and Rev. Ryan Lowe officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Monday from 1 PM until 2 PM prior to service time.

Mr. Williamson, of Monroe, LA and former long-time resident of Bastrop, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the age of eighty-nine. He was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church and a longtime employee at Entergy, retiring from there as an Engineering Associate. He enjoyed woodworking, square-dancing, working in his yard and traveling. Even in his retirement years, he kept busy with special projects for his family, always the loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved every minute spent with his family and they treasured those moments with him.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Jimmie Nell Williamson; daughter, Vikki Mixon, sons David Williamson and wife, Barbara, and Dan Williamson and wife, Stephanie, grandchildren: Michelle Drake and husband, Marvin, Tim Mixon and wife, Brooke, Donnie Mixon, Jr. and wife, Brittany, Amelia McLemore and husband, Tyler, Amanda Ables, Dustin Williamson, Rachel Mobley and husband, Keith, Rachel Prestridge and husband, Billy;

twenty-three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Williamson is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Florence Williamson; sisters, Dorothy Potts and Daisy McAdams; father and mother-in-law, James and Gordie Derrick;

son-in-law, Donnie Mixon, grandson, Derek Winnon and great-grandson, Brogan Gus Ables.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Mixon Jr., Tyler McLemore, Kaleb Drake, Jesse Drake, Tim Mixon, Brody Ables and Brock Ables

The family would like to thank TruCare Home Health, Premier Hospice, and special sitters, Betty, Terri, Sophia, Kristy, Kay, and Ashley for their wonderful love and care.
