It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the passing of our precious Mother, Ginger Arons, Granny Red, Sister, Coach, Judge, sweet friend. And so much more. Words cannot begin to describe the lives that have been touched by the amazing life that she lived.
Virginia Nelle Arons was born to CW and Dorthy Balkum in San Angelo on November 9th, 1938.
Ginger married the love of her life, Charley Arons while still in high school. They began raising their family of three daughters while embarking on many adventures together. Ginger was full of life and she loved to have fun! Ginger coached basketball at Fairview and played tennis in a ladies tennis league. Ginger LOVED the Holidays that would bring family and friends together for great food and lots of interaction. She also LOVED the Dallas Cowboys and watching football with Charley. They spent many a Sunday afternoon cheering and rooting for the Cowboys.
Ginger began her career in gymnastics in the 1970's when she began helping a small group of girls at Central High School which was the start of the high school program under Coach James White's direction. Ginger became a pioneer in the sport of gymnastics becoming the first State Judging Director of Texas and building Texas Tumbleweeds Gymnastics where she coached both recreational and team gymnastics and judged all over the state of Texas. Young athletes from the Junior Olympic program, High School athletes and College athletes alike all have benefited from her knowledge and expertise of the sport. Ginger was willing to help anyone that wanted to learn. Ginger received many awards and honors throughout her career.
Ginger passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Her room was overflowing with words of love and affirmation as family and friends came to say goodbye and phone calls were made to loved ones to express their love for her in her final hours.
Rest in Peace! We love you and will miss you Ginger. Enjoy seeing all of the family and friends that have gone before you to Heaven but most of all, Rejoice in finally arriving home in Heaven and in the arms of your loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! To God be the glory for a life well lived!
Ginger is preceded in death by her parents CW and Dorthy Balkum, her husband Charley Arons, her sister Sammye Gonzales, and her daughter Regina Sauer. She is survived by her sister Charlotte Reisner and husband Freeman of Grapevine, her daughters Terri Arons of Del Rio; and daughter Landa Knight and husband Randy of Sonora; Her four grandchildren Kandra McIntyre of Wall, Trista Box and husband Craig of Wall, Charley Sauer of Las Vegas, and Dr. Raquel Sauer of Grapevine; and last but certainly not least, her great grandkids who loved her dearly; Payton Box, Jillian McIntyre, Kezlyn Box, Braylon Box and Tristan Fuchs.
