Virgina Nell Burt, passed away on October 24, 2024. “Ginger” as she was known by family and friends, was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 9th, 1935, to her father Vivian Halbert Whitworth and her mother Cora Bell Blagg.
Virgina grew up in Lubbock. Virgina was one of six children, four brothers and one sister. They were known as the red headed Whitworths because both parents and all six siblings had bright red hair! Virginia and her family were members of one of the local Baptist churches where Virginia was well known as a gifted soprano. She even performed on the local radio station. She was a graduate of Lubbock High School.
Virginia was married on June 23, 1954, to Jack Reed Burt, in Clovis, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on Saturday, August 27, 2005. They moved to Roswell in 1956, where they lived for the rest of their lives. She worked as an insurance agent for many years until her retirement in the year 2000. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Roswell where she was the superintendent of the first and second grade Sunday School.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Bill; her brother Clinton Ray and his wife Lois; her brother Don and his wife Robbie; her brother Freddie and his wife Jane; her great grandson Dominik Finch; and her great granddaughter Larissa Sentell.
She is survived by her sister Marilyn Williams; Sister-in-law Mary Whitworth; her daughter Laura Green and her husband Richard; and her daughter Marci Snow and her partner Joe Petty. She is additionally survived by her grandchildren, Melanie Finch and partner David Hoffman; Josh Snow; and Cristin Marshall and her husband Bobby. Great grandchildren that survive her are Nathaniel Sentell; Jessica Finch; Samantha Marshall; Spencer Marshall; Joshua Snow; Raiden Snow; Alex Snow; and Grayson Snow. Great Grandchildren are Gabrielle Sentell and Oakley Marshall. Virginia is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nephews and nieces.
Virginia was loved by all who knew her, and she will be forever missed. We would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful nurses and nurses’ aides at Mission Arch Center, especially Judy, Jessica and Priscilla and the Enhabit Hospice nurses Rebecca and Yvonne.
She spent her life caring for her family and nobody could have done a better job. We love you so much.
