Virginia Dale (Seery) Dabkowski - loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and beautiful, gentle soul - passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Amston, CT. She was 77.
She was born in Stamford, CT on July 8, 1947. Virginia was a daughter of the late William Norris Seery and Virginia (Connors) Seery and attended West Hartford Schools. On July 18, 1970, she married Ronald Francis Dabkowski - a blessed union that lasted over 52 years.
Most recently residing as a snowbird between Colchester, CT and Weeki Wachee, FL, Virginia touched the lives of many with her warm spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends. An avid cook and baker, Virginia was renowned for her beloved Toll House Pie recipe, which became a family treasure, cherished but never replicated! She found joy in crocheting and had a passion for traveling to far-off destinations, including New Zealand, Fiji, Aruba, and Puerto Rico. Virginia's favorite place in the world was the family camp on Squam Lake in New Hampshire, where countless memories were made with her loved ones.
Virginia was deeply committed to her community, volunteering at various soup kitchens such as the Covenant Soup Kitchen and Hebron Food Pantry. She was well known for her selflessness and genuine care for others, qualities that defined her life. As a mother to her three boys, her proudest accomplishment, she created a loving and nurturing home, embodying the role of the quintessential mother who held the family together with her patience and calm demeanor.
In her professional life, Virginia dedicated many years to the kitchens at Hebron Public Schools, and later as an office manager for RGIS. Her legacy of service extended beyond her job as she engaged in activities like bingo, canasta, and Words with Friends, delighting in the company of those she loved.
Virginia will be remembered for her immense love, her joyful spirit, and the countless lives she enriched. She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forever in their hearts.
Virginia is survived by her three beloved sons, James of Christchurch, New Zealand, Robert of Laporte, Colorado, and Stephen of Nicholasville, Kentucky; her beautiful grandchildren, Owen, Anna, and Jack; and her brother, Richard Norris Seery. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Owen Seery, and a sister, Genavieve Grace Casey.
A Memorial Mass for Virginia will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Guardian Angels Parish, 128 Norwich Ave. in Colchester, CT. Guests are asked to arrive directly at church in the morning, and a reception at the parish hall will follow. A private burial ceremony will be held at Middletown State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in Virginia's honor may be made to Covenant Soup Kitchen, 220 Valley St., Willimantic, CT 06226.
