Virginia English Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Guerra & Gutierrez Mortuary - Whittier on Nov. 25, 2025.
Virginia Lea Green English, age 90, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025. After having lived in Sardis her entire life under the admonition of her Lord with wisdom, purpose and intentionally (Psalms 90:10, 12), left behind her earthly tabernacle for "now" and was received back into His presence where her "God given breath" (Genesis 2:7) was given at conception 32, 974 days ago. Believing the Scriptures, her soul and spirit remains active, continual and conscious and is in the presence of Jesus Christ seated on the right hand of the Father (Luke 22:69) as she awaits her resurrected, glorified body becoming triune again in resurrection with the promise of living with the Godhead for all eternity. Because of these Scriptural truths, those of us that are left behind and also believe in the redemptive plan of the Father that required His Son's sacrifice, ensuing resurrection and the promise of the indwelling Holy Spirit, we take comfort for our mother as well as ourselves in a literal, future, eternal place of life (John 14:1, 2, 3, and 6).
Staying continually with mom these past months, we experienced her transition from the constraints of this physical life to a willingness to depart for the spiritual, promised reward, to hear "well done, good, and faithful servant" having taught Sunday School classes tirelessly for sixty years. One week ago today, she began to make her wish known quietly that she was ready when her statements transitioned from a plaintive plea of "Jesus help me" to one of appreciation "Jesus, thank you." That request took place in her living room earlier today as we witnessed hallowed ground with her departure. There was no physical fight but only spiritual flight, without pain and/or suffering, which was graciously given to her at that moment by the Son of the living God, Jesus the anointed Messiah.
Our Mother was gentle, unassuming, and gracious with a caring nature to Church and family. When asked the day before her passing by her eldest granddaughter, Amy, what was her proudest accomplishment on this earth was her children, Diane, Danny, and Jimmy. Having had eternity set into her heart by the Creator (Ecclesiastes 3:11), she went about pouring into each of us the Scriptures and their outworking(s). For that task performed well, we are grateful and eternally appreciative.
Mom is now in the presence of her loved ones in the Third Heaven, the Green's, the Tull's, and the English's. She was preceded in death by her mother Ethel Tull Green and father Hershel L. Green, sister Rose Marie Green Rickard, and husband Jay Loyd English following 73 years of marriage. She leaves behind three children Jimmy L. English M.D., Danny L. English, B. Diane English Orrell R.N. (Lloyd), four grandchildren Amy Orrell Young (Kevin), Angela Orrell Morgan (Michael), Stefany Orrell Ashley (Dustin), Chevis English Douville (John), twelve great grandchildren, Mitchell Morgan, Zach Broadway (Ashley), Andrew Morgan (Lenae), Corey Morgan (McKinley), J.D. Morgan, Zeke Young, Audrey Ashley, Jennalee Morgan, Autumn Ashley, Skylar Douville, Canon Douville and four great, great, grandchildren Manson Morgan, Jackson, Broadway, Drew Morgan, and Knox Broadway.
Though her physical concerns at the end were mostly of thirst, according to Revelation 7: 16, 17, she will thirst no more as God will sustain her and wipe away all her tears as well as all things most blessed. Thank you, Mom, for life well lived and shared with us. We look forward in expectant hope to a future reunion with you and yours. Until then, we will miss you.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 12:00 noon Friday, November 28 at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in the Sardis Community with services beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial to follow at McPherson Cemetery in the Sardis Community. Dr. Paul Carter and David Harris will be officiating.
