It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia (Ginny) Opal Gregg, on December 7, 2024, at the age of 96. Virginia was born on October 2, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to Harley and Margretta Gant.
Virginia met the love of her life and beloved husband of 68 years, Robert (Bob) Gregg, at her alma mater, Mechanicsburg High School. They were married in 1946 and had one daughter, Charlotte Virginia Gregg.
In her youth, she enjoyed card nights with friends, bowling leagues, singing in the church choir, and sewing. Virginia and Bob also loved to travel. They spent many vacations on various islands of Hawaii and enjoyed many trips to western US. She was an avid storyteller and took great pride in “our” story.
Virginia proudly worked as an administrative assistant (to 35 male engineers, she’d have you know) at Grimes Aerospace until her retirement in 1992. Following her retirement, she continued to raise 4 of her great-grandchildren.
Virginia personified generosity. In her eyes, no need was too great. Whether time, resources, or energy, she gave freely and joyfully. She loved her family and friends fiercely. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Margretta Gant; husband, Robert Gregg; daughter, Charlotte Brewer; brother, Frederick Gant; daughter-in-law Candace Rucker; and great-granddaughter, Tuesday Rucker.
Survived by: son-in law, William Brewer; Grandchildren: Denise (Tom) Mackaravitz, William Rucker, Steven Rucker, Ronda (Steve Buckland) Rucker, Tami (Adam) Burgett, and Amy (Sam) Stamper; Great grandchildren: John Dunn, Ashley Powell, Brittany Dunn, Steven Dunn, Riley Rucker, Collin Rucker, Anna Rucker, Andrea Rucker, Joseph Buckland, Kyra Buckland, Vaughn Buckland, Mia Burgett, Eleanor Burgett, Elizabeth Burgett, and Isaiah Stamper; and many great-great grandchildren.
A chapel service will be held at Families First Cremation and Funeral at Edwards, 1166 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43206, on December 18th at 12pm with visitation from 10am-12pm. Burial to follow
