Virginia Lynn "Ginny" Highfill (Dixon), 58, of
Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on October 13, 1967, in
Mountain View, Missouri, Ginny lived a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and dedication to her family.
Ginny grew up in
Springfield, Missouri, but later moved to Fair Grove as a teenager. She graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1986. She was joined in marriage to her husband, Eugene on September 17th, 1988. They were married for 23 years and together they had 3 kids, Kara, Katie and Jesse. Throughout her life, she held various jobs that allowed her to connect with others and make a positive impact through her work. For the last 14 years she worked at the Springfield Workshop where she was able to utilize her talents in numerous roles.
Family was at the heart of Ginny's life. She is survived by her daughters Kara Ashton (Kenson) and Katie Highfill; grandchildren Darby, Kreeden and Kenlee Ashton; honorary grandchildren Jeremiah and Josiah Cook; her siblings Ronald Dixon, Deandra Dixon, Darla Woods (Billy), and David Dixon (Kallie); and her in-laws Rebecca and Randall Johnson, and Wanda Wright; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hubert "Eugene" Highfill; her son Jesse Highfill; her parents David and Barbara Dixon; her in-laws Hubert and Willa Highfill; her nephew Dustin Wright.
Ginny found great joy in spending time with family and friends. Whether traveling abroad or camping at Big Springs Campground, she cherished every moment shared with loved ones. A favorite past time of hers was getting together with friends and family to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs or St. Louis Blues. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing board games and cards. She was known for her incredible baking and cooking skills. One of her greatest pleasures was attending her children's and grandchildren's ball games and activities-always their biggest supporter.
Her faith played a central role in her life. As a devoted member of Mt. Comfort Church, Ginny gave generously of her time to help others. She volunteered in the nursery and children's programs over the years and participated in Bible studies. Her compassion extended beyond the church walls as she also volunteered at Rare Breed, demonstrating her commitment to serving those in need.
Ginny's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and faith. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life, directed by the family and church, will be held on April 11th, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Mt. Comfort Church 2376 East Farm Road 66
