Virginia Ingenito Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parsell Funeral Homes-Atkins-Lodge Chapel - Lewes on May 8, 2025.
Virginia Ingenito
On Sunday, May 4th, at age 93, a beautiful, always optimistic soul began her new life with our loving God, and her beloved parents and spouse. Virginia Ingenito passed away peacefully in her sleep, at home, with her son, Michael, close by and our little dog on her bed.
Virginia was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Novomesky) Lustin. Her immigrant parents met in America in the 1920s-one from Yugoslavia and the other from Czechoslovakia. Their common language was the English they were working hard to learn. Albert's business savvy and Mary's talent for knitting and crocheting led them to open a tiny yarn shop in New York City. With perseverance, the store grew, and with each move, it became bigger and better. Virginia was born in the apartment behind the store in 1931. An only child, she quickly became part of their team. Serving customers and teaching them handiwork was their life, and they were a close, loving family.
Virginia graduated from Walton High School and New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to earn her master's degree and taught 2nd and 3rd grade in Yonkers, NY. Virginia married Michael J. Ingenito on August 16, 1958, and they celebrated 48 years of marriage until Michael's death in 2007. Their two children, Michael P. Ingenito and Eve Aldred (Bruce), became the center of their lives.
Because of her son's disability, Virginia was Michael's willing caregiver, and patiently read all of his homework assignments to him during his many years of school. Virginia always enjoyed discovering new things. She embraced many social justice and environmental causes. Virginia loved family vacations, playing cards, dabbling in Chinese painting, and walking in the woods of Nyack, N.Y. A special joy was sharing in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her spirit and memory will always live on in our hearts and in the hearts of her grandchildren-Bruce (Jingwen), Brian, and Trevor (Molly)-and her three great-granddaughters: Mary, Stella, and Mia.
A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 211 Mulberry Street, Lewes, DE 19958, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. A heartfelt thank you to our family and friends for their prayers and support.
