Virginia Isaacson Obituary

Exceptional seamstress, accomplished choral singer

Virginia Catherine Campbell Isaacson, 83, passed away on November 16, 2021, in Philadelphia, PA. Born November 1, 1938, in Lowville, New York, the daughter of Francis and Florence Campbell. Virginia and her brother, Blair Campbell, experienced living in various parts of the US and Panama while growing up. The family ended up in Nyack, NY where Virginia graduated from Nyack High School. She was an accomplished choral singer, receiving several awards. She graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School and began working as a secretary and occasional jazz singer.

Virginia met her husband, Franklyn Isaacson, when they worked together at Kellogg Engineering. They married in 1963 and moved to New Jersey to raise their family. They settled first in Westfield, NJ where Virginia was active in the community, volunteering at the Westfield Rescue Squad, and serving on the board of the Westfield Friends of the Library. Virginia was a Deacon and Elder at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield, and a member of the Republican party, running for local office in Union County. In 1991 Virginia and Franklyn moved to Annandale, NJ where she volunteered at the Hunterdon County Friends of the Library and welcomed grandchildren into the family. In 2014 they moved to Philadelphia, PA to take advantage of city life. They attended the symphony, started a supper club within their apartment building, and continued to enjoy their life together.

Virginia was an exceptional seamstress, designing clothing for her family and for customers for many years. Everyone was welcome in her home, her kindness was shared with family, friends and anyone else who needed her. On April 9, 2021 Virginia lost Franklyn. Virginia leaves behind their 3 children, Christopher, Douglas and Kathryn, and 5 grandchildren, Geneva, Sophia, Oscar, Parker and Maeve.
