Virginia “Jenny” Dare Dixon left us unexpectedly on Thursday December 19, 2024. Jenny was born and raised in Ferrum, VA to the late Esley Shelton Radford and Nancy Mary Jean Cox Radford. She was proceeded in death by her father Shelton, her brother Melvin “Bug” Radford, and her mother-in-law, Frances Trail.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Darrell Dixon; along with her two daughters, Brandie Dixon (Gee) and Brooklyn Dixon (LJ). She is also survived by her four grandchildren who she lived her life for as their Nana. Brandie’s children Gary Lee, Gavin, G’Yanna and Brooklyn’s son Princetyn; her loving mother, Nancy Radford, and her baby sister, Donna Radford (David). She was the legal guardian to her cousin Wesley Radford who meant the world to her, and she lived life to take care of him since she became his caretaker two years ago. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that she loved like her own and her two life-long best friends who she adored, Donna Beckner and Sarah Chitwood.
Jenny worked most of her life at Bassett Walker as a seamstress where she made many lifelong friends and was loved by all. After the plant closed, she retired and was a stay-at-home mom raising her two girls and enjoying her life with them and Darrell. She enjoyed spending her free time with her grand babies doing whatever it was that they wanted Nana to do. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband working outside in the yard mowing, gardening, and planting flowers to make their home beautiful. Jenny was loved by many and to know her was to love her. She was always so sweet and welcoming to any and everyone who crossed her path. She will be truly missed.
