A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church in Algona. Burial will be held in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church in Algona.
Faye passed away at the age of 99, surrounded by her family, at American House Cedar Lake Assisted Living Facility, in Plainfield, IL, Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Virginia Faye Krause was born May 30, 1926, in Algona IA, the daughter of Arthur and Katherine (Hansen) Krause. She grew up on their family farm near Luverne, IA and graduated from Algona High School in 1944. Following high school, she attended nursing school, now known as A.T. Still University, in Kirksville MO.
Following graduation, Faye returned to Algona to marry the love of her life. On March 28,1947 she was united in marriage to Glenn (Jonesy) Jones, and they were blessed with two sons, Doug and Gary, and 75 years of marriage.
Faye began her nursing career in Algona, working for Dr. Richardson. She later worked as the First Presbyterian Church secretary with Rev. Myron Brower. However, Faye enjoyed most of the twenty-one years that she spent working with the Sundet-Omdahl family in the insurance business, especially with Howard.
Some of Faye's favorite pastimes were traveling, knitting, reading and she was a long-time member of Pins and Needles Sewing Club. But perhaps her most special passion was caring for others, especially the elderly. She volunteered 560 hours with the RSVP program and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she participated in numerous Presbyterian women's organizations, served as PWC treasurer, and was a part of the Guild, but her most cherished position of all was that of grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her two sons, Doug (Diana) Jones of St. Louis, MO and children, Chris (Katherine) Jones, Meredith (Paul) McKeown, Lacey (Matt) Dobsch and Dallas (Andi) Wilson, and son Gary (Cindy Merryman) Jones of Naperville, IL and their children, Laura (Tom) Gambill, Kristin (Christopher) Knight and Megan (Matt) Madera. Faye is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Arthur and Katherine Krause (Moore), husband, Glenn Jones and brother, Don (Joyce) Krause.
