Virginia Carolyn Kelly, born on June 11, 1935, in Howell, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at the age of 90. She will be missed deeply by all that were blessed to know her.

On May 29, 1955, Virginia married the love of her life, Daniel Elmer Kelly. Together, they built a cherished life filled with love and laughter, raising their two sons, Tom and Michael Kelly. Virginia’s commitment to her family was matched only by her passion for her work as a paralegal for Union Gas and Atmos Energy where she made lasting contributions throughout her career.

In addition to her professional life, Virginia attended the Presbyterian Church of Independence, Kansas, where she fostered deep connections and found solace in her faith. Virginia was deeply involved in her community and her generous spirit was evident in her participation as a Sunday school teacher, member of Steven’s Ministries, participated with the Samaritan Fellowship and PEO and served on multiple boards and committees where she made many friends and positively impacted those around her. In recognition of her vibrant personality and service to her community, Virginia proudly served as the Generalissimo of Neewollah in 1988.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband Daniel Kelly and her sons Michael Kelly and spouse Connie, Tom Kelly and spouse Debbie, along with grandchildren Tim Kelly and spouse Amanda, Jessica Kelly, Megan Nieding, Ryan Nieding, and seven great-grandchildren Brenden, Lauren, Niomi, Monroe, Lorenzo, Larissa, and Scotty. She is also survived by her loving sister Hester Heath, niece Susan Bowman, and nephew Bob Heath.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Ruby Henderson, a sister, Betty Marie, and her mother and father-in-law Elmer and Star Kelly.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery on October 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. where loved ones will come together to celebrate Virginia’s life and legacy. In this time of remembrance, we invite all who knew Virginia to honor her remarkable journey and the love she so generously shared. Virginia’s love and compassion shines through as she requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Independence Kansas.
