Virginia Ann Kurschinske, 66, of Titusville, passed away on the evening of Monday, February 17, 2025, following short illnesses. She was known to many as 'Jenny' or 'Jen.'
Jenny was born in Titusville, PA, on December 19, 1958, to the late Regis "Pat" O'Neill Jr. and Patricia F. O'Neill. She was the second eldest of their five children and was named after her paternal grandmother, Virginia O'Neill Sr.
On Friday, April 7, 1978, Jenny married David B. Kurschinske in Titusville, PA. They shared nearly 38 years of marriage until David's unexpected death on April 1, 2016.
Jen was a 1976 graduate of Titusville High School, where she was involved in school sports, including swimming and track and field. After graduating, she took numerous classes at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville and later participated in various healthcare educational programs throughout the 1990s. Over the years, she worked at Dog n' Suds, Queen Cutlery, the Oil Well Supply plant in Oil City, RGIS Inventory, Sunset Manor Care Center, and Schwan's. In 2017, she became a small business owner, opening Mr. Butt's Tobacco Express in Titusville.
Jen had a love for horses and horseback riding from a young age and continued this enjoyment throughout most of her life. She had a special fondness for paint/pinto horses, including Ben, whom she grew up with on her parents' family farm, and later Babe, who was part of her own small hobby farm. She also owned several other horses at the beginning of her and David's farmette. Jenny enjoyed gardening for most of her life, continuing the tradition in the summer before her death. She loved working on projects, watching football, and hunting with her husband, David. She also cherished backyard campfires and cookouts with her children and family, as well as spending time with her grandson, Devon. Additionally, she loved spending time with all of her dogs.
Virginia is survived by her two children: her daughter, Jayme, and her husband, Pat Walsh; and her son, Bryon Kurschinske, and his companion, Ashley Deen. She is also survived by her grandson, Devon A. Kurschinske, all of Titusville. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings: Gerald O'Neill and his wife, Kathy; Carrie Fox; Donald O'Neill and his wife, Brenda; and Michael O'Neill and his wife, Sherry. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Elaine Dozois of Lowell, MA, and Susan Wyant and her husband, John, of Denton, TX; her cousin, Dottie Lander and her husband, Charlie of Tionesta, PA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other cousins.
Jenny was preceded in death by her father, the late Regis "Pat" O'Neill Jr., on September 16, 1987; her mother, Patricia F. (Hunt) O'Neill, on April 11, 2017; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth (Porter) Kurschinske, on October 28, 2015; her paternal grandfather, Regis P. O'Neill Sr., on July 19, 1990; her paternal grandmother, Virginia (Cochran) O'Neill Sr., on January 4, 2013; her maternal grandfather, Gerald R. Hunt, on September 13, 1978; her maternal grandmother, Ethel (Range) Hunt Lookabaugh, on January 25, 1995; and her brother-in-law, Neal Fox, on February 26, 1993. She was also preceded in death by many others, including but not limited to great-grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and other extended family members.
She will be remembered as being strong-willed, driven, hardworking, kind, clever, fun, and as a very unique and charismatic person. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend to so many. She will be deeply missed.
Friends may attend a celebration of Jenny's life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department 12638 Main Street Hydetown, PA 16328.
Memorial contributions can be made in Virginia Kurschinske's honor to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511, or to any Humane Society shelter.
