Virginia L. Lund

Virginia L. Lund, 85 of Kearney passed away January 26, 2024 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney with Rev. Dr. Michelle Holley Carlson and Rev. Dr. Rick Carlson officiating. Inurnment will follow at First Lutheran Church Columbarium.

Memorials are suggested to the UNK Foundation – Frank House. Condolences mays be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.

Virginia was born January 23, 1939 in Dagupan City, Philippines to Moises and Cristina (Bautista) Llego. She attended Dagupan City High School, graduating with the class of 1956. Virginia then attended Sillima University in Dumaguete, Negros Orietal, where she studied accounting and chemistry, later earning her degree in Chemistry. She taught chemistry in the Philippines and later in the United States. On February 22, 1979, she was united in marriage to Dennis Lund. Virginia was proud to have received her United States citizenship in 1986.

She served as the curator of the Frank House (G.W. Frank Museum of History and Culture) from July of 1990 until her retirement in October of 2004. Virginia was a very accomplished and refined woman. She was known for being extremely social and for hosting formal tea parties.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tina Lund of Melbourne, Australia; stepchildren, Jenny Lund of Lake City, IA and Nancee Robles of Kauai, HI, and Nelson Lund of Fresno, CA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Erlinda Ellen Salmon, Liberty Lete Josue, Grace Felicity Frame, Fanny Heidi Llego; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bienvenido Courageous Llego, Moises Morgan Llego Jr., Jonathan Llego;and husband, Dennis Lund.
