Virginia J. McAvay, 73, entered into rest on November 2, 2025. A longtime resident of West Haven, she was the wife of the late Thomas B. McAvay. Ginny leaves a loving family including her two beloved daughters: Christina Sasso and husband Joe, Michele Hey and partner Gary Pompa, three adored grandchildren Lia Hey, Nicco & Gianna Sasso. In addition to her parents Michael and Giovannina Landi Rocco, she is predeceased by her brother Carl Rocco.
Virginia retired from Key Bank where she worked for many years as a teller. She enjoyed many activities throughout her life including travel, especially to the Caribbean and sunbathing by the pool. She also loved gardening, baking and spending time with her grandkids, niece Melissa Rocco, and nephew Michael Rocco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday November 28 at 10 o'clock at the Church of St. Louis on Bull Hill Lane, West Haven. Inurnment of cremains will follow in the Garden Mausoleum, St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Michelle, Christina and grandchildren. So sorry to hear of your mom and grandmother's passing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Ginny will always hold a special place in my heart. Rest in peace my friend with your beloved Tom. I know how much you missed him.
I will be away for the funeral. Wish I could be there to say goodbye. Till we meet again.
