Virginia Kline McIntosh, affectionately known as "MeMom," passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 91 after a brief illness.
Born on September 13, 1933, in Woodville, Texas, Virginia was a woman of intelligence, grace, and unwavering dedication. A true academic, she graduated high school at just 15 years old and went on to earn her degree from Northwestern State University in Louisiana at the age of 19. Her passion for education led her to the University of Georgia, where she earned both a Master of Education in Counseling and a Specialist degree.
Virginia devoted over 40 years to shaping young minds, first as a teacher and later as a beloved high school guidance counselor for the final 20 years of her career. She was known for her wisdom, compassion, and steadfast belief in the potential of every student she guided.
A woman of deep faith, Virginia was a dedicated member of Lawrenceville First Baptist Church and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Philadelphia Winn Chapter). She loved reading, traveling, and lifelong learning-always seeking new knowledge and experiences.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom McIntosh, in 2013. Virginia's legacy lives on through her cherished family, including her daughter Leigh McIntosh; grandson Jay Couch (Lauren) and their children, Forbes and Veya; granddaughter Taylor Couch Grizzle (Cody) and their children, Brantley, Bennett, and Elleigh; granddaughter Sydney Couch (Courtney); granddaughter Kline Couch Chambliss (Jared); daughter Cindy Voyles (Bill) and their children, Chas Taylor (Shannon) and Finley; and son Thomas McIntosh and his children, Natalie and Colleen.
A visitation will be held at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Virginia will be laid to rest beside her husband at Gwinnett Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Virginia's honor.
Virginia's wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and community will forever be remembered along with her fierce independence and wisdom. Her life was a testament to kindness, faith, and the power of education. She will be deeply missed, but her influence will live on in the lives of those she touched.
