Virginia Norman Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 21, 2025.
Virginia Lee (Burger) Norman, of Weston, Missouri, was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on November 19th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her son Paul Norman of Weston, MO; her son Phil and daughter-in-law, Tawnie Norman of Rolling Hills, CA; and her sister Margaret Cromer of Loveland, CO. She also leaves her five adored grandchildren-Emily, Victoria (Carter), Casey, Cole, and Payton-as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Norman; her father, Kenneth Henry Burger; her mother, Charolette (Seitzinger) Burger; her sisters Barbara Harms and Marlene Wilharm; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Norman.

Virginia was born on June 21, 1933, in Everly, Iowa. She was one of four girls raised by Kenneth and Charolette Burger in a warm and close-knit family deeply rooted in their Iowa community. She graduated from Everly High School in 1949, where she was an energetic cheerleader and a talented singer in the choir. From an early age, Virginia radiated joy, kindness, and an effortless warmth-qualities that would define her entire life.

On July 26th, 1952, Virginia married the love of her life, John Anton Norman. Together they built a beautiful life centered on devotion, faith, and family, raising their two sons, Paul and Phil. After moving to Spencer, Iowa in 1965, Virginia worked at Arnold's Automotive Supply, a business that proudly continues today. Once she welcomed her sons, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to being an exceptional mother-steadfast, nurturing, supportive, and ever-present.

Virginia made friends everywhere she went. She had a remarkable ability to connect with others, turning casual conversations into meaningful relationships. One of her greatest joys was spending time with loved ones-whether gathering around the kitchen table, visiting on the porch, or laughing with her cherished Tuesday morning coffee club, a group of five dear friends who met faithfully for over a decade.

In 2010, after spending most of their lives in Spencer, John and Virginia moved to Weston, Missouri, where they were warmly welcomed into the Weston United Methodist Church community. Virginia loved gardening, cooking, and baking, and her signature fudge recipe remains a treasured family favorite. Above all, her greatest pride and joy was her family. She never missed a chance to cheer on her grandchildren, listen closely to what was happening in their lives, or offer wise, gentle guidance. Her sense of humor, kindness, and steady presence made her the heart of her family.
