Virginia Polston Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Virginia Lynn Polston, who departed this life peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on January 7, 1934, Virginia lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family and the Lord. She was a woman of quiet strength, known for her warm heart, and gentle spirit.

Virginia dedicated herself to nurturing others- by staying with the elderly, new mothers, or those in their time of need. One of the first members of the First Separate Baptist Church of Indianapolis, she dedicated her life to Christ as a young woman. She was an avid prayer warrior and rarely missed any service that she could attend. She loved to take photographs and was fondly remembered as the family photographer any time a group of them were together. She loved to spend her time knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing and even spent time as a seamstress.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Virginia is survived by her sister Margaret Wiggington, brother, Jimmy (Janice) Polston, sister Phyllis (Donald) Wiggington, and brothers Garry (Lula) Polston, and Larry (Cheryl) Polston, 15 nieces and nephews, 24 great-nieces and nephews, and 26 great-great nieces and nephews of which she had photos of all throughout her home. Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Jim B. Polston, her mother, Eva Polston, sister, Marie Roberts, brothers-in-law, Ottis Roberts and Lonzo Wiggington, and nephew Jeffrey Wiggington.

A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on October 3, 205 at the First Separate Baptist Church of Indianapolis, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A private burial will follow at Military Springs Cemetery in Russel Springs, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Separate Baptist Church of Indianapolis, 25 Bixler Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227 in honor of Virginia's lifelong commitment to the Lord. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
