Virginia Rose Southworth Tyler "Dootsie" October 31, 1938 – November 22, 2025
She married Willie James Tyler at the age of 22, and their family settled on Wolfsnare Road in 1964.
Dootsie excelled in duckpin bowling-once ranking 9th nationally-and was just as skilled at sewing, weekly hairstyling for friends, preparing taxes for dozens of families, and teaching Sunday school for more than 15 years at Foundry United Methodist Church.
In her mid-40s, she fell in love with golf, often playing two rounds a day and becoming Red Wing Golf Course's club champion for eight straight years. She proudly achieved two hole-in-ones.
She worked for the Virginia Beach Treasurer's Office, was a devoted Avon President's Club representative for 30 years, was famous for her cooking (especially her cookies), and loved country line dancing-often closing down the bars despite never drinking.
She is survived by daughters Brenda Wilson (Randy) and Linda Nemmers (Dan); granddaughters Tiffany Onhaizer and Brittany Wells (Greg); London and Ford Nemmers; and great-grandchildren Penelope, Georgia, and Dempsey Wells.
Viewing Saturday, Nov 29, 3-5 p.m. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1264 N. Great Neck Road, 23454. Funeral Sunday, Nov 30, Prelude 2:30-3 p.m., Service starts at 3 p.m. Foundry Methodist Church, 2801 Virginia Beach Blvd, 23452.
