Virginia Ruest Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 19, 2025.
Virginia Ann (Sherman) Ruest, 83, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025. She was born on February 24, 1942, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Irene (Tougas) Sherman.

Virginia's greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She spent many years as a devoted homemaker, raising her daughter, Doreen, and supporting her beloved husband, Henri. Later, she opened her home to neighborhood children through her in-home daycare.

She and Henri shared a beautiful bond, finding happiness in life's simple pleasures. They loved visiting yard sales, often discovering treasures to resell at flea markets. They enjoyed playing board and card games together, and Virginia especially loved bingo.

In 1998, Virginia and Henri moved to Florida to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. They continued their favorite hobbies and often traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi, to play slots at the casinos.

Later in life, Virginia made wonderful friends at her local McDonald's, where she gathered for breakfast and conversation. Her sharp sense of humor brought light and laughter wherever she went. She also enjoyed reading, creating Diamond Dotz paintings, and playing computer games.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henri; her mother, Irene; her stepfather, William Dean; and her brother, Warren.

She leaves behind a family who adored her: her daughter, Doreen, and son-in-law, John; her granddaughter, Amanda, and her husband, Ryan; and her precious great-granddaughter, Emma.
