Virginia Simmons Schellenberg, age 81 of Chatham, VA. passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at Runk and Pratt Senior Living in Lynchburg, VA. Mrs. Schellenberg was born September 25, 1940, in Magnolia, MS. to the late Bessie Elise Godbold Simmons Allen and the late William Errol Simmons. She was married to the late William Rodgers Schellenberg, who predeceased her February 20, 2022.
Mrs. Schellenberg was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church, and she was a retired registered nurse. She will always be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by one daughter; Brenda Newcomb and her husband Charles, her grandchildren; Tiffany Cockrill, Chase Newcomb, Sonya Evans, and Carie Riley, nine great grandchildren, and one sister; Laura Kathryn Simmons.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was also predeceased by one brother; Stephen Simmons.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 4, 2022, 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham, Va., with Pastor Bob Paddock officiating.
