Virginia M. Sica

Virginia M. Sica, aged 100 ½, gracefully departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at her residence in Toms River, New Jersey.
Born on May 29, 1923, in Seattle, Washington, to the late Douglas and Alice (Bossow) Michell, Mrs. Sica lived a life rich in experiences. Initially residing in Edison for many years, she later enjoyed over 25 years of retirement in Barefoot Bay, FL, before finally settling in Toms River.
A dedicated homemaker, Virginia shared her life with her husband while contributing to the success of the Peanut Bar in Edison, a business they proudly owned together. Her profound love for family extended to the joy she found in the company of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a member of the Moose Lodge in Barefoot Bay, FL, she enriched her social connections and community ties.
Beyond her familial roles, Mrs. Sica cultivated a passion for gardening and painting. She indulged in recreational activities such as playing bocce ball and trying her luck at the casino. Virginia was an avid traveler, orchestrating family getaways that unfolded over weeks, creating cherished memories.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Sica, her brother Michael Michell, sister Adair Hill, and son-in-law Anthony Capiraso, Virginia leaves behind a legacy cherished by those she touched.
She is survived by her daughter, Geri Capiraso; her son, Patrick Sica, and his wife Karin; grandchildren Patrick Jr. and his significant other Marisol, Jason and his wife Chaorui, Antonette and her husband Lou, Felicia and her husband Kyle, Michael, and Dana and her husband Anthony. Additionally, she is survived by great-grandchildren Sal, Gianna, Anthony, Emma, Alessa, Lorenzo, Madison, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, January 22nd, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ 08873.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. at St. Peter Cemetery, Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ.
