Virginia Anita Story, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Springdale, Arkansas. Born on December 16, 1941, in Bentonville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Doss and Ruth Jewel (Hensley) Story.

Virginia lived a life defined by quiet strength, boundless generosity, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved. For 29 years, she worked at the Washington County Public Defender's Office, where her diligence, compassion, and sense of justice left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She believed in standing up for others, in doing the right thing even when it was hard, and in meeting every challenge with grit and grace.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Hamilton, a loss she carried with dignity and love.

Left to honor her memory are her daughter-in-law, Teresa R. Hamilton, and her granddaughter, Britteny S. Hamilton, along with Britteny's husband, Donavan T. Hamilton, all of Springdale, Arkansas. Virginia was also a guiding presence in the lives of her extended grandchildren-Stacey, Kane, and Iana-who came into her life through marriage but were held just as tightly in her heart.

To us, Virginia was more than a mother, grandmother, or friend-she was the anchor. The one who showed up without hesitation, the one who knew how to fix what felt broken, whether it was a leaky faucet or a wounded heart. She offered her love not in grand gestures, but in daily acts of kindness, support, and selflessness that spoke louder than words ever could.

Her absence is a deep and aching loss. This remarkable woman, whose hands worked tirelessly and whose heart held space for so many, leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet heroism. She was taken too soon, and the hole she leaves in our family cannot be filled. But we will carry her spirit forward in the way we care for one another, the way she taught us to.

She will be remembered always-deeply missed, and forever loved.

Lovingly written by Britteny Starr Hamilton.

No memorial service will take place. Cremation arrangements were done on July 8, under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale, Arkansas.
