1933 ~ 2025
Salt Lake City, UT-Virginia Schiess Udarbe was reunited with her eternal companion on November 22, 2025. She slipped away peacefully after a short hospital stay. For 92 years, she wore herself out in the service of her God, family, and fellow men. She was born October 24, 1933, to Fredrick Oliver Schiess and Daisy Hall at their home in Providence, UT. She was the oldest child and had 3 sisters and a brother; Clara May Criswell, Mildred Miller, Joan Lofthouse, and Kay Schiess.
Virginia moved to the Avenues in Salt Lake City for work after high school. That is where she met Clarence Carl Udarbe after he returned from his mission in Germany. After becoming engaged, Clarence was drafted for the Korean War and sent back to Germany. They wrote to each other every day for 18 months. Soon after he returned, they were married on July 21, 1955, in the Logan Temple. They spent the next 68 years together on the Avenues raising their family. Virginia wrote in her life history that her greatest gifts in this life were her family and her faith.
Virginia and Clarence were blessed with 3 amazing children: Anita Ann (Dave) Torgersen, Robert Carl, and Jennifer Marie (Trevor) Holladay. Their family grew to include 7 wonderful grandchildren and 5 awesome great grandchildren: Chris (Mitzi) Torgersen with children Hayes, Smith, Park and Coe; Nikki Torgersen, Andrew Torgersen with daughter Ella, Amy Holladay (Kiarash Ghasemzadeh), Ashley Holladay (Cameron Yancey), James, and Max Holladay. Virginia was always happiest when she was with her family.
Funeral services will be held on Tues., Dec. 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ensign Stake Center, 135 A St. A viewing will be held prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to your favorite charity or to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Services.
